Indian Coast Guard 46th Raising Day celebrated in Chennai

CHENNAI: A sail past by four ships and demonstration of search and rescue by two Chetak helicopters off Marina Beach and Elliot's Beach marked 46th Raising Day of the Indian Coast Guard in Chennai on Tuesday.
Inspector general AP Badola, commander, Coast Guard Region, East, presented citations to the four units that participated in Operation Sagar Aaraksha-2 conducted to put out fire on a chemical-laden ship MV X-Press Pearl off Sri Lanka coast.

Four personnel were awarded bravery awards at a function that was held at the headquarters.
Various activities including special Swachhta Abhiyan, special interaction with fishing community and outreach of Coast Guard activities focusing on environmental concerns and safety of life at sea, lectures, demonstrations, virtual quiz for school students were also held as part of the Coast Guard Week.
